What you will be doing:


As Lead Faculty at Sonoran Desert Institute, you will impact our students’ educational journey by coaching and developing part-time faculty members. The Lead Faculty works collaboratively with Academic Affairs leadership to ensure faculty members are successful in the online classroom through the facilitation of New Faculty Training and Mentorship, as well as through ongoing training. In this position, the Lead Faculty is responsible for managing the performance of faculty members through evaluations and providing feedback on a continuous basis to impact the overall student experience.


General Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with faculty members on a regular basis providing coaching and guidance to impact faculty performance in the online classroom
  • Evaluate the performance of faculty members in the online classroom by conducting evaluations of faculty effectiveness, performance, and adherence to requirements, including timely grading and student-faculty interaction
  • Deliver asynchronous and synchronous workshops and remediation programs for new and existing faculty that result in improved student and faculty experience
  • Facilitate New Faculty Training as part of the onboarding process for new faculty members
  • Mentor new faculty members as they teach their first course
  • Provide input to faculty management processes to ensure continued effectiveness
  • Communicate best practices to define and improve upon faculty performance standards
  • Assist in new curriculum development, corrections, and modifications
  • 10% travel

Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor degree required; Master degree preferred
  • Five years or more experience in managing faculty at a higher education institute
  • Five years or more experience teaching online courses at the college level
  • Proven strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate persuasively and influence outcomes
  • Mastery of adult learning principles and best practices of online instruction
  • Results-oriented and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in using online learning platforms, video conferencing tools, and other educational technologies
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
