Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson P.S. (HCMP) is a Seattle-based law firm comprised of nearly 50 attorneys whose core practices focus on representing and advising Pacific Northwest companies. We have earned a reputation as a leading law firm, with consistent recognition for our work by distinguished industry lists and awards, and annual ranking by U.S. News – Best Lawyers as a “Best Law Firm.” With the recent addition of the boutique environmental firm Joyce Ziker Partners, PLLC (JZP), HCMP has expanded its team to provide a full range of environmental legal services with a best-in-class firm.
The addition of JZP has created a unique opportunity to work with some of the most respected and experienced environmental attorneys in the Pacific Northwest.
We are seeking an environmental attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join and help grow our thriving and expanding environmental practice.
The anticipated work covers a broad range of upland and aquatic cleanups, redevelopment and construction projects, purchase and sale of contaminated and brownfield properties, natural resource damage claims, and complex cost allocation. Clients include large national corporations and small local companies, public entities, as well as individuals.
The ideal candidate must have a depth of experience working on sophisticated transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters involving contaminated properties and the application of the Washington Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Experience with, or demonstrable interest in, real estate transactions and development involving contaminated property, environmental insurance claims, cost recovery litigation, and allocation of environmental liabilities, along with a willingness to take on a diverse range of fast-paced environmental matters, are necessary components of this role.
Compensation, Hybrid Work & Other Benefits

Actual compensation will be dependent upon various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
This position is eligible for hybrid work. Our current policy strongly encourages employees to work in the office a minimum of one day per week.
