REPORTS TO/TERM:

• Principal

• This is a Full-Time 10-month position.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a comprehensive Award-Winning Arts Program encompassing Grades 5-12 to include, but not limited to, Concert 

  Band, Marching Band, Beginning Band, Orchestra, Drumline, Choir, Jazz, Theater, and Drama

• Direct and Organize Plays, Performances, and Concerts.

• Create K-12 “Feeder Program” for the Arts fostering excitement, enthusiasm and generating community interest in the Arts.

• Lead students to State Band and Vocal Competitions developing confidence and building student self-esteem.

• Meet with parents and community to promote programs, generate interest, and display student work and talent.

• Teach and actively plan sequentially for concert bands grades 6-12 (6th grade beginning band, 7th grade Intermediate, 8th grade advanced, 9-12 High School Concert Band).

• Teach one music history or music theory course to high school students

• Other extracurricular activities may include jazz band and pep band, Orchestra performances, Choir performances, 

   Plays/Drama  Nights

Requirements

Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from an accredited university

• Possess an Indiana Music Teaching License

• Knowledge in wind, percussion, and orchestra pedagogy

• Knowledge of Marching Band techniques

• Knowledge of Orchestra techniques

• Knowledge of Choir/Vocal techniques

• Knowledge of Theater and Drama techniques

• Ability to work with additional staff members and music colleagues

• Organized and good communication skill
