 About the Position

Camp For All seeks a creative person to join the Development team. The Assistant Director, Development and Special Events is responsible for the execution of the Houston Gala, and the Greater Camp Area Gala, as well as providing guidance and advice for the Over The Edge peer-to-peer fundraising event. An ideal candidate is self-motivated and organized, with a knack for creating unique opportunities to engage donors.  Camp For All special events generate approximately $1.4 million in revenue each year, while introducing the organization and its mission to hundreds of new donors. The position is responsible for creating and executing donor cultivation and stewardship events along with internal community building activities. A key member of the Camp For All leadership team, the Assistant Director, Development and Special Events works collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Special Events – Houston Gala & Greater Camp Area Gala
    • Primary point of contact for Houston Gala and Greater Camp Area Gala, overseeing all aspects in conjunction with Supervisor, Special Events: budgeting, planning, underwriting, messaging, production, reporting and volunteer coordination.
    • In cooperation with the Director of Development, strategizes fundraising goals for each event and each revenue stream within the event (table/ticket purchases, sponsorships, auction, fund-a-need drives, raffles and other innovative revenue-generating activities).
    • Develops and manages timelines       
    • Primary contact point for key event volunteers, including chairs, committees and board.
    • Create and execute long-term plan and strategy, including potential chairs and themes.
  • Leader of Events team, providing guidance and support for Supervisor, Special Events as they drive the Over The Edge event 
  • Develop best practices for key software, to positively impact events, and to engage donors on an ongoing basis.
  • With Manager, Institutional Giving, create memorable and engaging sponsorship opportunities for Camp For All events.
  • Facilitate activities for Camp Friends (local auxiliary) group and encourage advocacy, leadership and financial support to increased engagement.
  • Point of contact for donor cultivation events and internal Camp For All team events
  • Other activities as requested by the Director of Development; some nights and weekends are required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. 
  • 4+ years’ experience in non-profit special event fundraising with a proven track record for meeting budget and revenue goals
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, ability to multi-task, organizational skills and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and cooperate with a variety of individuals.
  • Use diplomacy and tact when working with volunteers, donors, other constituent groups.
  • Adept at balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Familiarity with moves management and auction software preferred. 
  • This position is based in Houston, with travel required to Camp and Greater Camp Area (Washington      County).
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance; must have ability to use one’s own vehicle (mileage is reimbursed).
Salary Description
$65,000-$75,000
