Tulsa Innovation Labs LLC (TIL) is a tech-led economic development organization headquartered in Tulsa, OK pioneered by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. The organization is responsible for catalyzing Tulsa’s leadership in advanced industries such as energy tech, advanced air mobility, virtual health, and cyber. We believe that by building a world-class tech hub in America’s heartland, we unlock opportunity for all.

The organization was founded in January 2020 and has already experienced significant momentum including its $38.2M Build Back Better Regional Challenge win and EDA Tech Hubs Designation. Now, TIL is emerging from startup-phase and has established itself as a system hub and community leader, requiring additional emphasis on scaling-up operations and organizational capacity.



Position Summary:  

The Senior Associate of Marketing & Communications collaborates closely with the Marketing Manager and TIL team to ensure effective implementation of marketing and communication strategies. The role is responsible for coordination and tactical execution of assigned marketing projects and communication platforms. To be successful in this position, the Senior Associate must possess skills and have demonstrated success in building relationships with broad and diverse audiences, creating and delivering impactful and relevant messaging, as well as effectively implementing marketing strategies that support organizational goals. 



Responsibilities / Essential Job Function:

The following functions represent the majority of the duties performed by the position. The description is not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary: 

  • Marketing and Media Relations: 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to define and maintain Tulsa Innovation Labs’ master marketing calendar and coordinate execution with the TIL team and other resources to achieve goals of the marketing plan. 
  • Collects relevant data and program information from stakeholders for use in media relations and other marketing activities, such as annual reports, whitepapers, creative assets, etc.
  • Drafts and publishes approved content to the TIL blog: Blogs, press releases, reports, associated images, etc.
  • Responsible for receiving all inbound inquiries and requests from local media and coordinates response with Marketing Manager. 
  • Coordinates process for internal marketing and creative requests and manages prioritization and alignment with Marketing Manager for approved execution plan.
  • Proactively execute defined marketing tactics in all mediums, leveraging team content, sharepoint, and other resources to support activities.
  • Create, alongside external approved resources/vendors, marketing collateral including flyers, postcards, signage, and other materials needed for events, conferences, and other TIL engagements.
  • Managing all marketing costs (actuals vs budget), invoicing process, and forecasting in designated systems, as directed by Marketing Manager.
  • Communications: 
  • Draft content for quarterly newsletters and social media, highlighting the strategies and work of TIL, our partners and industry insiders/thought-leaders.
  • Coordinates mass email creation and distribution of approved comms products for advisory council, stakeholder engagement, etc.
  • Digital Marketing: 
  • Work with the marketing manager to create a content calendar, planning for content for distribution across all social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube). 
  • Draft and schedule copy for content calendar on a biweekly basis for all social platforms. 
  • Attend Tulsa Innovation Labs events and programs to capture content for social media channels. 
  • Moderate social media engagement, representing the Tulsa Innovation Labs brand through responding to comments and direct messages. 
  • Provide monthly reports and analytics on social media activity, tracking toward organizational impression and engagement goals. Audit usage and make recommendations for Tulsa Innovation Labs brand engagement moving forward. 
  • Oversee and develop social media campaigns across relevant social platforms. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager. 


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, public relations or other related fields is strongly preferred. High school diploma and requisite experience is required.
  • Two to three years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communication and/or public relations. 
  • Experience with content management systems, AP Style, Slack, Salesforce, Canva, Asana, SplashThat, Microsoft Office Suite, other team productivity tools, etc. is preferred.
  • Depth of knowledge related to social media platforms, best practices and analytics is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicate: Frequent phone, in-person, and messaging communication via various platforms. Must be able to exchange information effectively and accurately in all elements of verbal and written communication. 
  • Operate: Constant operation of computer, phones, and other office productivity tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between program and related stakeholder locations, and service provider/vendor offices as required.



Salary

  • Anticipated starting salary range between $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year. Ultimate salary offering will depend on education, skills, and experience.


Hours & Location:

  • Position is based in Tulsa within TIL headquarters located at 3 North Cheyenne Ave.
  • Typical work hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 to 5:00, with flexibility required for various events, meetings, and relevant business needs.
