JOB SUMMARY 

AWC is looking for an Estimator specializing in granite countertops and cabinets for multifamily projects. You will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs, preparing competitive bids, and ensuring profitability for the company. Your expertise in evaluating materials, labor, and other project expenses will contribute to the successful execution of projects and the satisfaction of our clients. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Project Evaluation: Assess project requirements by reviewing architectural plans, specifications, and client preferences to determine the scope of work.
  • Material Assessment: Evaluate the cost and availability of granite countertop materials and cabinet components from various suppliers. Analyze materials' quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal to ensure they meet project standards and client expectations.
  • Cost Estimation: Use industry-standard estimating software and tools to calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other project expenses accurately. Consider factors such as material wastage, installation complexity, and site conditions in cost projections.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids for granite countertop and cabinet installation projects. Present detailed breakdowns of costs, timelines, and project deliverables to clients, ensuring transparency and clarity.
  • Vendor Relations: Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate favorable pricing, discounts, and terms for materials and services. Continuously evaluate market trends and supplier performance to optimize purchasing decisions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and other team members to coordinate project requirements and ensure alignment between estimates and project execution.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects, such as material shortages, labor shortages, or unforeseen site conditions. Develop contingency plans and strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bid proposals, and correspondence with clients and suppliers. Update project documentation as needed to reflect changes in project scope, requirements, or costs.
  • Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to address inquiries, clarify project details, and resolve any concerns or issues related to estimates, bids, or project implementation.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all estimates and bids meet company standards for accuracy, consistency, and profitability. Conduct post-project reviews to assess estimates' accuracy and identify areas for improvement.

  

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES     

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an estimator in the construction or remodeling industry, with specific expertise in granite countertops and cabinet installation.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to accurately calculate costs and quantities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Familiarity with building materials, construction methods, and granite countertop and cabinet installation best practices.
