About the Position:The Client Support Associate (CSA) position assists in care coordination and the provision of clinical services. The CSA provides milieu management and provides a safe environment for guests. The CSA facilitates interdepartmental communication and cross-departmental efforts. They serve as an integral part of the treatment team and work closely with clinical, medical, and hospitality teams to provide excellent service and create an atmosphere promoting safety and wellness.

Position Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Client and Milieu Management

  • Maintain responsibility for the creation of a safe environment in a designated area of the milieu
  • Create strong relationships and interactions to build a culture of safety and serves as a positive role model and mentor for clients
  • Promote client adherence to the daily programming schedule and encourage client participation in all activities
  • Verbally redirect clients to follow program expectations
  • Enforce adherence to safety protocols and ensure compliance with program rules
  • Intervenes in client crisis situations and works with treatment team to promote conflict resolution, de-escalation, and emotion regulation
  • Uses positive reinforcement, non-judgmental attitude, listening skills, gentle redirection, and other tools to manage client behaviors in a positive and supportive way to create a safe environment
  • Works with the treatment team to intervene with clients seeking to leave treatment early in order to support and redirect AMA situations

Group and Activity Facilitation

  • Create and lead activities on and off site to engage clients and enhance client experience
  • Observes and/or co-facilitates groups with clinical and other care coordinator staff
  • Runs therapeutic groups and group activities for clients to support recovery and wellness

Interdepartmental

  • Serving as an integral part of the treatment team, conferring with various departments to address client and milieu issues and to promote safety and wellness
  • Develop a strong working relationship with clinical, nursing, medical, dining, housekeeping, and other departments
  • Works with the admissions/discharge department to manage tasks related to client admission and discharge
  • Works with the medical and nursing departments to complete supervised self administration of medications or other tasks as needed
  • Works with the transportation department to assist transportation as necessary
  • Works with Scheduling Coordinator to add client appointments to the schedule and to communicate schedule changes with staff and clients

Administrative

  • Keep documentation on clients including shift reports and data entry into the electronic medical system and related record keeping and data management systems (Kipu, DACODS, IRs)
  • Utilize site-specific technology and equipment including Intellity, APN Connect, Media Room equipment, etc.

Training and Development

  • Participates in ongoing education as a certified addiction tech/specialist (CAT/CAS) and ongoing training in behavior management, de-escalation, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and other developmental opportunities

Education:This position requires a High School diploma or GED; prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field. 


Experience:Prefer 1+ years experience in Behavioral Health setting. 


Special Skills & Knowledge:Candidates should have the following skills and attributes: strong communication skills, aptitude with conflict resolution, and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. Must be able to learn, understand, and articulate mental health terminology. Proficiency with technology and electronic mediums, including the ability to learn site-specific specialized systems (Intelity, Kipu, Media Room, Protel, APN Connect, etc.).
