Donor Engagement Specialist

The Donor Engagement Specialist works with the development team and the Director of Communications to increase organizational support and to cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from annual donors.


Essential Job Duties:

· Works collaboratively with the communications and development departments to develop and implement a comprehensive annual giving program, including monthly giving program, direct mail, e-mail, telemarketing, donation boxes, Community Care Alerts, and Autos for Animals.

· Develops compelling content for multi-channel campaigns. Implements strategies to increase revenue from the annual fund with a focus on acquiring, stewarding, and retaining donors and supporting mid-level and major gifts pipelines.

· Manages all aspects of direct mail appeals, including vendor coordination, constituent selection, schedule of deliverables, content and story sourcing, artistic concept, and campaign analysis.

· Coordinates administrative functions such as annual tax letters, donor acknowledgment letters, and basic activities within donor database. 

· Maintains database with appropriate donor contact information; assures confidentiality and accuracy of donor information.

· Coordinates ordering and shipping for select honor/memorial gift options. 

· Responds to donor concerns or complaints.

· Supports Development & Communications Department efforts including Special Events.

· Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state/ federal laws

· Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others

· Perform other duties as requested to meet organization needs

Requirements

  

Experience/Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years annual giving or fundraising experience preferred. Experience with Raiser's Edge development software, campaign marketing, account coordination or similar is highly preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position. 


Skills: Supports Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in all interactions, communications and publications. Must have the ability to deal tactfully and professionally with the public and leading group tours of the facility. Possess strong communication, critical thinking, and project management skills. Ability to collect, analyze and present data for strategic accomplishment and course correction. Demonstrated ability to budget and take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision. Proficiency in computer applications required (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).


Physical Demands: 

Performs work primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift and move throughout the building. Frequently required to communicate with others. Performance may also require repetitive motion. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.
