Mortgage Loan Assistant
Description

The Mortgage Loan Assistant works closely with loan originators and processors to process mortgage loans. A successful candidate will provide a best-in-class customer experience. The Assistant receives the application online and quickly reviews for accuracy and completeness, advises the Loan Officer as to viability of loan at first glance and then coordinates with the applicant to gather the necessary documents to submit to underwriting for final approval.


Mortgage Loan Assistant Essential Job Functions

  • Assist Loan Officers in preparing preliminary loan packages for processing by partnering with customers to obtain missing documentation and other required information from customers
  • Utilizes information gathered to prequalify customers
  • Assistant will complete required disclosures for new loans, issue Change of Circumstances notices, complete the initial loan documentation and enter the loan into the 
  • Responds to customers’ general questions regarding policy and procedures in the absence of the Loan Officer
  • Updates customers, real estate agents, and title companies on the loan’s progress
  • Works with appraisers to obtain official appraisal and coordinates and schedules loan closings
  • Assists Loan Officers with marketing campaigns through mail, email and internet
  • Performs other administrative tasks to support the team
  • Cross training on processing, closing and funding of Mortgage Loans


Requirements


Required Knowledge

  • Solid, current knowledge and understanding of conventional, government (FHA/VA/USDA), and Jumbo loan requirements
  • Solid, current knowledge and understanding of State and Federal real estate lending regulations

Required Education and Experience

  • At least 12 months of loan assistant or processing experience 
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data and making solid business decisions with available information
  • Experience with attention to detail, written and oral communication, multi-tasking and problem solving
  • Experience with MS Office products including 10-key

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of Encompass mortgage software 
  • 2 years of mortgage loan processing knowledge, including closing, funding or shipping of mortgage loans
  • Prior mortgage lending or related sales experience
