Role

The Systems Installation Engineer is a key member of the Conair Team, completes system project estimating assignments by following prescribed processes and procedures. This position also is responsible for establishing and maintaining a new CAD based drawing and BOM process that will allow for seamless transition into our project engineering process. In this role, you will support our system specialists with their system quotations by calculating and documenting installation estimating materials and labor costs. Experience in the world of commercial or industrial construction projects, especially in estimating, is a plus.  This position reports to the Director – Systems Group and is based out of either Franklin or Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply labor, materials, etc. required for plastics auxiliary equipment and process water system installations;
  • Compute costs and prepare estimates used for management purposes and preparing bids;
  • Work with Regional Sales Managers, System Specialists, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Installation Contractors, and Customers;
  • Gains an understanding of the inner workings of the material handling and heat transfer estimating tools and applies continuous improvements to digitize the process;
  • Recommend vendors or subcontractors, and determine cost effectiveness vs internal crew utilization;
  • Development of construction subcontractor inquiries;
  • Review of contract documents for scope of work and ensure all scope/costs are covered;
  • Understanding of AutoCAD and documentation practices of installation material quantities;
  • Travel to Customer Facilities to gather information or audit installations (<5% - large complex installations) 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management (or related field), Mechanical or Industrial Engineering , or Engineering Technology. Or, five (5)+ years of direct work experience in estimating of plumbing, mechanical or construction projects without an accredited technical degree. 
  •  Experience in plumbing and/or mechanical construction estimating is highly desired;
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and exposure to BOM automation within AutoCAD or associated software is highly desired
  • Ability to think three dimensionally when reviewing drawings with comprehension;
  • Able to analyze flow diagrams and factory layout drawings an conceptualize optimum equipment location, piping egress, and wiring egress to necessary equipment. 
  • Must be detail-oriented and precise;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to analyze and interpret business correspondence; Communicates appropriately with Inside Sales Reps and Project Managers.

  • Must provide efficient, high-quality customer service;
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • Can identify risks in project scope and configuration; identifies alternate solutions and evaluates the relative strength and weakness of multiple paths; Uses data to support and coordinate decisions;
  • Able to prioritize work for yourself and others, providing timing and resource estimates to the project estimating backlog;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
