The Director of Finance will be overseeing the Finance Team. The ideal candidate will have strong non-profit accounting and audit experience, progressively taking on more responsibilities and senior roles. The candidate will have experience leading a team. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will help us continue developing our processes, policies, and procedures, and maintain internal financial controls. The Director of Finance will produce thorough financial reports for the Executive Team and the Board as well as other stakeholders.

  • Have a reliable means of transportation to attend regular work as well as other off-site business functions.

  • Oversee all aspects of the month-end close including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, General Ledger, bank recs and Financial Statement presentation. 
  • Cash management oversight of all cash, investment accounts, and banking relationships.
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable Finance Department staff.
  • Monthly actual vs budget reporting.
  • Assist Development & Strategic Growth Departments in preparing grant proposals including budgetary aspects.
  • Review and analyze all balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Review and approve payments and credit card purchases.
  • Track spending against grant budgets, funds remaining, and funds used. 
  • Prepare grant and shared cost allocations monthly. 
  • Prepare and post Payroll journal entries. 
  • Lead annual fiscal audit.
  • Prepare or oversee preparation of various government reports and tax returns.
  • Other ad hoc support as needed.

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in progressively senior accounting roles
  • Strong fund accounting experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • High level of professionalism
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative and the ability to work independently
  • History of working effectively as part of a team
  • This position requires some in-person presence and/or travel within the regions served.
Salary Description
$120,000-$130,000 DOE
