POSITION SUMMARY

Manufacturing Technicians at ASI perform hands-on electro-mechanical assembly and light fabrication tasks typically associated with the production and installation of simulation and training devices, or device modification kits, that are installed throughout the U.S. and abroad. There is a broad spectrum of skills required to produce, install, and/or modify simulation devices. A single Manufacturing Technician is not expected to possess all skills necessary to produce a complete device but is expected to be an integral part of a team that does. Most tasks can be categorized as requiring an Manufacturing Technician that has either electrical assembly skills, mechanical fabrication/assembly skills or painting skills. This vacancy announcement is for a Manufacturing Technician that specializes in auto body paint.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks are typically defined as build-to-print, using engineering drawings and associated lists combined with instructions documented on Job Tickets, Work Instructions, Installation Plans, etc.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

ENTRY- 0 to 2 Years

MID- 3-5 Years

SENIOR - 5+ Years

  1. Experience with the methods, materials, tools, equipment and practices of the auto body repair trade
  2. Understand the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the auto body repair trade
  3. Experience with the basic methods, materials, tools and practices of the automotive mechanic trade
  4. Understand metals and metal thickness of materials used by manufacturers (i.e. composites, aluminum, and boron)
  5. Experience with basic methods of mixing paint, hardeners and reducers
  6. Ability to work within strict given deadlines.
  7. Ability to multi-task



ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Must possess basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Fluent in English
  3. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  4. Ability to adapt communication style and messaging to different audiences.
  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriately.
  6. Ability to work in a project-oriented, fast paced environment to meet deadlines.
  7. Proficiency in common business software (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint)



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or Equivalent



EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL: Must be able and willing to travel (CONUS/OCONUS). Up to 3 weeks travel, one week home rotation.

  1. Due to contractual requirements must be a United States Citizen
  2. Must be able to pass an initial background check.
  3. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance. Employee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required)
  4. ASI is a Drug Free Workplace where applicants and employees are required to successfully pass pre-employment and Random drug testing.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Required to talk and hear.
  2. Required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel, and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  3. Required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  4. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  5. Work at heights of up to 20’ with appropriate safety gear
  6. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  7. Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 30 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but is not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud in an open bay manufacturing area.
