POSITION SUMMARY

ASI is seeking a Systems Engineers in the Avionics, Computer Systems, and Visual Systems disciplines to join the team at our headquarters in Tampa, FL.


Avionic Systems Engineer - The avionics systems engineer will be assigned one or more systems which replicate the avionics or aircraft systems of the aircraft to be simulated. These systems include: communications (radios and ICS), navigation (GPS, TACAN, VOR, etc.), defensive systems (chaff, flares, ECM, etc.), offensive systems (bombs, torpedoes, missiles, etc.), and other systems which may be applicable (GPWS, TCAS, IFF, etc.).


Computer Systems Engineer – The Computer Systems Engineer will design, develop, integrate, test, and document software for the control, networking, and/or interfaces of flight simulation computer systems and subsystems. Utilize languages such as C/C++ and shell scripting in Linux or Windows based environments to develop new and/or modify existing software and applications.


Visual Systems Engineer – Visual Systems Engineers design, develop, integrate, and test software for the control of flight simulation visual systems. Utilize languages such as C/C++ and shell scripting in Linux or Windows based environments to develop new and/or modify existing software and applications.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works within subspecialty field to apply engineering principles to research, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement and test aircraft electrical, computer, data networks, and associated systems.
  2. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analysis, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  3. Applies their experience to perform functions such as systems integration, design, configuration management, quality assurance testing and acquisition, and resource management.
  4. Acts as an engineering team member on assigned projects developing engineering procedures and controls, managing project effort, and participation in problem resolution.
  5. Interfaces with system and program contractors, vendors, and Government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering programs/projects.
  6. Ensures that newly installed systems and those that have been repaired meet requirements mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration and specifications set by aircraft manufacturers.
  7. Participates in designing, purchasing, testing, and calibrating avionic systems such as computer and electronic communication panels.
  8. Communicates all ongoing activities and results to business sponsors, stakeholders, and management in a positive manner.
  9. Reads, writes, and/or maintains new and existing software.
  10. Follows established company and industry processes and procedures.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

ENTRY – 0 to 4 Years

MID – 4 to 7 Years

SENIOR – 7 to 10 Years

  1. Requires developing code on Linux and/or Windows systems.
  2. Proficiency with C, C++, or C#.
  3. Proficiency in a scripting environment such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  4. Competency in a version control system such as Git or SVN
  5. Strong technical understanding with at least one area of specialization expected.

Avionic Systems Engineer

This position requires a strong Avionic systems background.


Computer Systems Engineer

This position requires a strong computer systems background.


Visual Systems Engineer

  1. Proficiency with 3D Geometry and Geographic Coordinate Systems
  2. Experience with version control systems (Subversion/Git)
  3. Experience in the integration of Image Generation Systems
  4. Experience with Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI)
  5. Experience with developing in gaming engines such as Unity or Unreal
  6. Experience with content creation tools such as 3DS Max, Maya, or Photoshop

  1. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  2. Ability to adapt communication style and messaging to different audiences.
  3. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriately.
  4. Ability to work in a project-oriented, fast paced environment to meet deadlines.
  5. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, or independently, as necessary, and be a self-starter who will attack designs and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  6. Proficiency in common business software (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint).
  7. Ability to work with project teams to successfully deliver new or modified functionalities.
  8. Keen attention to detail to deliver solutions that meet business requirements and are operationally supportable.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Software), Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Equivalent experience to education and three years’ experience related aircraft or flight simulation systems


EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Due to contractual requirements must be a United States Citizen
  2. Must be able to pass an initial background check.
  3. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance. Employee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required)
  4. Must be able and willing to travel (CONUS/OCONUS)
  5. ASI is a Drug Free Workplace where applicants and employees are required to successfully pass pre-employment and Random drug testing.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typically employees sit comfortably to do their work, interspersed by brief periods of standing, walking, bending carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals to accomplish work objectives.

Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in an office environment consisting of offices and cubicles with low to moderate noise and bright or dim lighting. The work is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as external customers.
