Description

Indiana Farmers Insurance is currently looking for a Personal Lines Underwriter I to join our talented professionals in our fast-paced environment! The ideal candidate will be local to Indiana or the surrounding states. 


You will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and analyzing policies during the renewal process. Innovative tools and resources are at your disposal to make informed decisions to drive our profitability, growth and long-term retention. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a team of insurance professionals, including territory underwriters, assistant underwriters and our agency partners. Personal underwriting experience is preferred, but we will also consider someone with other property/casualty experience, who is willing to work hard and learn quickly. As a Personal Lines Underwriter with Indiana Farmers Insurance, you will help drive informed decision making in support of our vision.

Requirements

Qualifications and Responsibilities for the Personal Lines Underwriter I: 

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Two years of experience in personal lines underwriting, preferred, but equivalent experience in a property/casualty insurance company or the agency customer service field will also be considered
  • Professional, respectful, and effective communication skills regardless of the means of communication 
  • Ability to reason and make informed decisions
  • Strong desire to collaborate with others including fellow associates, agency partners, and customers
  • Working with other territory underwriters to resolve customers’ coverage and underwriting questions
  • Having excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines is critical
  • Working with assigned agents to develop cooperative relationships that foster growth and profitability
