Job Purpose

Reporting to the VP, Tax, the Senior Tax Manager will work with the existing tax team on tax forecasting and compliance matters related to Longroad Energy and its affiliates. Tax forecasting and compliance matters predominately include federal and state quarterly income tax projections and annual income tax filings for U.S. partnerships.  This person will need to come into the Boston office once a week.


Responsibilities 

  • Maintain the income tax compliance calendar for both statutory and stakeholder deadlines
  • Oversee outside tax accounting firms in the performance of their duties as preparers of U.S. federal and state income tax returns and quarterly partnership capital account projections
  • Provide information (e.g., draft calculations, trial balances, m-adjustment support, etc.) to outside accounting firms to prepare returns, extensions, estimates, etc. 
  • Review deliverables prepared by outside accounting firms
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is prepared and maintained
  • Ensure all tax returns, estimates, extensions, etc. are timely filed
  • Ensure stakeholders receive all required tax deliverables on time
  • Assist in developing and maintaining proper policies and procedures for the tax department


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years prior experience in tax compliance with U.S. partnerships
  • Minimum of five years of experience with a public accounting firm
  • Strong analytical, communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Strong tax technical skills in the following areas:
  • GAAP-to-tax adjustments for purposes of calculating taxable income
  • Partnership allocations
  • Tax basis balance sheets
  • Fixed/intangible asset depreciation/amortization
  • Ability to read and understand audited financial statements
  • Ability to read, understand and apply operating agreement tax provisions
  • CPA and/or MST
