Corporate Controller
Description

To effectively manage and direct the financial affairs of the organization and maintain financial stability and compliance. The Director of Finance and Accounting will oversee key business strategies within the Finance and Accounting department relating to Financial Reporting & ERP System Utilization, Budgeting & Forecasting, Cost Management, Financial Analysis, Tax Compliance, and Relationship and Departmental Management. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

Financial Reporting & ERP System Utilization

  • Utilize and optimize the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for financial management and reporting. 
  • Prepare and oversee the production of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. 

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Develop and manage the company's budget, working closely with other departments to gather information and ensure alignment with overall business goals. 
  • Provide financial forecasts and analyses to support strategic decision-making including annual budget. 

Cost Management

  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including direct labor, overhead, and raw materials.
  • Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for cost optimization. 
  • Oversees all daily financial matters, including but not limited to disbursements, receivables, costing, payroll, bank balances, cash management, and banking relationships.

 

Financial Analysis

  • Conduct financial analyses to evaluate the company's financial performance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for enhancing profitability and efficiency.

Internal Controls

  • Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial transactions. 
  • Ensure accurate and detailed transactions are monitored & controlled including Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Invoicing, and all inventory transactions.  With special attention and focus applied to reconciliation of chargebacks and deductions taken by customers off invoices and remittances. 
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and mitigate financial risks. 
  • Prepares schedules and analysis for all corporate external audits. Acts as a Project Manager for external audits to monitor auditor time and review completed audits for accuracy. 

Cash Flow Management

  • Manage cash flow to ensure the company has adequate liquidity to meet its operational needs.
  • Implement strategies to optimize working capital, including inventory and receivables management. 

Tax Compliance

  • Responsible for the preparation of and compliance with all tax regulations including payroll, sales, federal, state, and local.
  • Work with external tax advisors to optimize the company’s tax position and minimize liabilities. 

Relationship and Departmental Management

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities. 
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, providing financial guidance and support.  Internal Stakeholders to include HR & Payroll, Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, and Manufacturing & Engineering, and IT/Technology departments. 

Departmental Management

  • Oversee and lead the finance and accounting department to maintain productivity and quality of the day-to-day completion of the tasks performed by the accounting & finance department.
  • Establish clear and measurable goals for the department.
  • Identify, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) within the finance and accounting department including regular performance reviews and feedback loops. 
  • Encourage and foster a culture that promotes continuous improvement where employees are empowered to identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and implement process enhancements to drive performance excellence. 
Requirements

Required Abilities/Skills

  • Proficient in NetSuite or similar ERP software. 
  • Results driven change agent with the ability to mentor and develop team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to read financial reports
  • Ability to prioritize and handle many diverse projects and issues simultaneously; ability to deal with important issues that can have a significant impact on the long-term success of the Company. 
  • Must be organized and deadline oriented and have strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of research methods
  • Detail-oriented 

Education/Experience

  • BA in Accounting, MBA/CPA preferred. 
  • 5-10 years private industry or public accounting experience. 
  • In depth knowledge of accepted accounting principles. 

Physical Requirements
