Job Overview:
To provide protection of the collection and safety of guests while providing excellent customer service in one of the following guard capacities – construction, galleries, or events.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Protect the collection by observing visitors, vendors, and/or event attendees. Be aware of behavior, environmental, and other concerns.
- Provide courteous and clear information or assistance to visitors/event attendees. Ensure wayfinding and escorts as needed
- Be alert for emergencies and hazardous conditions or situations, assist visitors and staff in emergency procedures where necessary; report all observed safety and security incidents to manager on duty or central control room
- Open and close gallery in a timely manner according to established protocols
- Monitor visitors and report any incidents involving the art
- Inspect works of art for damage or change; monitor climate conditions and lighting in galleries, promptly reporting any deficiencies immediately reporting findings to manager
- Escort construction vendors; ensure that all security and safety protocols are adhered to.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holiday hours
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Ability to work well with others and provide excellent customer service
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time while maintaining awareness
- Good common sense and the ability to be a calming influence
- Computer literate, comfortable operating computer and technology software including email systems, and web-based applications.

Education and Experience:
- High School or equivalent
- 1+ years of customer service experience in a public environment
