Position Description

The Media Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing media operations for all U.S. Soccer events, including U.S. Senior Men’s and Women’s National Team games. This position interfaces with a wide range of venues, media members and FIFA Member Associations to coordinate and execute media operations at the highest level in the industry.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and execute media operations at U.S. Soccer events, including but not limited to U.S. Senior Men’s and Women’s National Team games, Annual General Meeting, National Soccer Hall of Fame and other ancillary events. This includes setup of media areas, catering arrangements, press credential process, and management of volunteers.
  • Co-manage U.S. Soccer’s event accreditation system. This includes pre-event and during event processing of attendee registration, photo submissions, assigning proper access, production of event credentials (includes needs for venue, staff, media, broadcast etc.) and on-site distribution.
  • Maintain quality and inventory of media operations items and equipment for events.
  • Negotiate vendor agreements to align with department budget and process event invoices.
  • Develop a network of volunteers and manage event day staff.
  • Research and update market media lists prior to events being announced and manage U.S. Soccer’s media list database.
  • Be familiar with U.S. Soccer Media Guidelines and ensure they are carried out during events to create a professional working environment for journalists while protecting the rights of U.S. Soccer’s media partners.
  • Track and produce media coverage reports following U.S. Soccer events.
  • Assist in promoting local media coverage and distributing media information in advance of U.S. Soccer events.
  • Assist with other areas including, but not limited to, Event Operations, Broadcast Operations, Corporate Partnerships and Ticketing to help best execute U.S. Soccer events. 
  • Miscellaneous departmental duties as deemed necessary. 
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Familiarity with professional and international level soccer. Experience working soccer events a plus
  • Experience working in media, sports or entertainment is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow
  • Proven ability to work with public figures, athletes, and executives in a professional environment
  • Proficient with technology programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Experience with accreditation software is a plus
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) – able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently
  • Able and willing to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree required
