Primary Duties & Responsibilities


The Research Analyst (RA) will support federal and foundation grant and government relations consulting activities for clients within the Healthcare Practice (HCP) area. The RA will provide research and agency monitoring support to individual HCP Managing Directors and to the larger HCP team. The RA will be expected to deliver quality results with strong attention to detail and professional and accurate communication in a fast-paced environment with fixed, shifting, and sometimes conflicting deadlines.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Retain working knowledge of the most client-relevant grant programs across federal agencies including HRSA, NIH, AHRQ, SAMHSA, CDC, PCORI, USDA, DOD, ACF and others. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of HCP client strengths and interests (programmatic and research) and prospect for grant opportunities to support tailored strategic research plans based on clients’ interests. 
  • Prepare and disseminate agendas for monthly client portfolio meetings; attend monthly client meetings and document meeting minutes. 
  • Prepare memoranda on or summaries of funding opportunities, agency initiatives, and/or legislative activities for both internal and client use. 
  • Work directly with the HCP Managing Directors to support client needs related to research, proposal development, and execution of grant seeking strategies and/or other government relations consulting projects. 
  • Provide administrative and project management support to grant project teams, as needed, including participating in client meetings, maintaining organized and accurate project meeting records, tracking project activity requirements and progression, and assisting with document preparation and management. 
  • Support strategic intelligence efforts for new client onboarding. 
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of grantsmanship workshops, webinars, and other trainings. 
  • Support business development by assisting in the preparation of responses to requests for proposals for firm services and researching prospective client leads. 
  • Support HCP Vice President, HCP Core Team and/or Managing Directors on special projects, as needed. 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Normal work hours are 8:30 am through 5:30 pm Monday through Friday; three or more days a week in the Washington, DC office is required

  • Salary consideration will be commensurate with experience, range for position is $58,000 - $62,000 annual base salary and bonus eligibility

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a life- or health science-related discipline or a Bachelor’s degree in a different field with 1-3 years of relevant grants administration experience. 
  • Familiarity with federal grant programs, federal grant funding databases, and grant seeking strategies. 
  • Strong verbal communication skills and superior writing and editing skills. 
  • Familiarity with language in academic literature on various health-related topics. 
  • Detail oriented with strong project management, organization, and task prioritization skills. 
  • Ability to synthesize and accurately analyze complex materials. 
  • Creative, service oriented, and adaptive professional mindset able to independently troubleshoot problems. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with focus on Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Teams. 
  • Able to remain in a stationary position during the workday (up to 80%), move about inside the office to access files, cabinets, office machinery, supplies, and carry items to various locations in the office. 

Preferred Candidate Qualifications 

  • Prior experience within a Research Administration or Research Development unit in a healthcare system or higher education setting. 
  • Familiarity with the GrantForward funding opportunity database. 
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Certified Pre-Award Administrator (CPRA) certification
