Description
Basic Function: Plans and performs a variety of operations connected with the assembly of various types of fans and accessories. Involves a number of parts and requires skill and care to maintain close tolerances in alignment, fits and clearances to meet quality performance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Receives written work orders or verbal orders from Production Supervisor
- Verifies against work order that all parts were received and correct. Work order may be used in conjunction with a print.
- Mounts motor to fan frame manually or assisted by hoist. Checks for proper motor shaft alignment, by using a tape measure.
- Manually mounts bearings and shaft in fan housing and checks for proper alignment on belt-driven fans, by using tape measure or ruler.
- Installs bolts in motor base or installs bolts in bearing manually with hand tools or impact wrench (power). Checks for proper alignment, using a tape measure.
- Installs prop or wheel and/or bushing to motor shaft by using power impact wrench or hand held tools.
- Manually installs driven sheave (pulley) on fan shaft for belt-driven fans.
- Installs motor on motor base, tightens bolts with power impact wrench or hand held tools. Manually installs driven sheave to motor.
- Manually installs belt to sheaves and sets for proper belt tension.
- Assists co-workers with manual placement of parts on large fans.
- Occasionally uses hand held grinder for fitting fan parts and/or accessories.
- Supports the Hartzell Culture initiatives and displays and portrays the Hartzell Values.
- Supports the company’s lean initiatives and assists in Lean projects as required.
- Follows all safety practices and rules. Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
- Supports other departments or completes other duties as necessary.
Requirements
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Previous experience with assembly or hands on experience is strongly recommended.
- Previous application of lean manufacturing and structured problem solving tools is a plus.
- Good understanding of blue print reading and excellent math skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Lifts frequently (50% of normal work day) material weighing 25 – 50 lbs. Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs. Lifting generally from floor level to knee or waist level.
- Must be capable of close, distant, and color vision and have good depth perception.
- Must reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Be able to read part numbers and directions provided on a worksheet.
- Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.
