HIRING RANGE: $13.00 - $16.00 hourly

WORK LOCATION: Community Recruitment Sites/Assigned Service Center


SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Seasonal Recruiter is responsible for the execution of recruitment tactics that will result in new membership registration, generation of qualified leads, volunteer recruitment and troop formation in an assigned geographic area. Tactics could include, but are not limited to, explaining the value and benefits of

the Girl Scout program; describing the dynamic and enriching Girl Scout program and Leadership Experience to a variety of audience; attendance and active participation/facilitation of in-school events; making group presentations to interested adults; meeting and engaging with school administrators; scheduling, organizing and facilitating parent meetings; and leading short activities for girls/children. This is a temporary/seasonal position with variable hours, up to 20 hours per week, including frequent evenings and (occasional?) weekends.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Represent GSCP2P and implement recruitment tactics that increase new membership registration, generate qualified leads, support volunteer recruitment and new troop formation.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor and membership engagement team to ensure organization and follow up communications are consistent, offering real-time feedback when challenges or questions occur or arise.
  • Work collaboratively with other individuals (staff and volunteers) involved at recruitment sites to share duties and responsibilities effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with Service Unit volunteer teams (specifically SU Specialists, SU Recruiters and school liaisons) to understand the needs and preferences of the community or audience, ensure the marketing throughout the existing area is taking place with appropriate lead time and real-time follow up is given regarding on recruitment site results.
  • Work collaboratively with membership engagement staff to ensure real-time information and follow up is given regarding on recruitment site results.
  • Identify and establish relationships for additional membership recruitment opportunities, such as community events or new collaborations that can generate qualified leads, recruit new members and establish new locations for regular troop meeting sites.
  • Assist with production and delivery of marketing items/flyers promoting membership opportunities in assigned area.
  • Promote adult volunteer opportunities with emphasis on troop leadership positions.
  • Promote council programs, adult training and events with a variety of audiences.
  • Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate complete information clearly both verbally and in writing with customers, volunteers, vendors, peers, colleagues and the general public to ensure the delivery service excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful recruitment or sales.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Girl Scouting.
  • Willingness & ability to utilize the council's technology and tools required to track and manage this work.
  • Ability to multi-task, simultaneously carry out a variety of responsibilities independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient in public speaking and presenting to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to give and receive clear, complete and professional information by telephone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to work effectively with adults, girls and community partners with volunteer and staff teams reflective of the council's diversity including race, religion, economic status and disability.
  • Ability to complete and/or update the training necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to travel independently to various locations within assigned territory.
  • Ability to perform tasks in busy environments, where noise level is usually moderate to high.
  • Willingness and ability to work a varied schedule up to 20 hours per week with many evenings and weekends.

Education, Experience, & Certifications

  • High school graduate or equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of two years demonstrated professional experience in sales or recruitment and/or volunteer management.
  • Experience in membership, program or volunteer support in Girl Scouts is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Organized program planning and implementation skills.
  • Excellence in communication and relationship building skills.
  • Training in sales/recruitment through Sandier or related skill-based training program is preferred.
  • Efficient time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to present to individuals, small groups and large groups in clear and engaged manner.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, & Outlook. Ability to utilize web-based applications to record recruitment data.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently in stressful situations.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become and remain registered member of GSUSA, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont during the duration of employment.
  • Successfully pass criminal and driver background investigation.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license, valid auto insurance, acceptable driving record and access to a vehicle on a daily basis and willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned geographic area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls including the operation of computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; bend and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear within normal range for telephone use. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, preparing and analyzing data and figures, and extensive reading.

The employee is required to travel independently to various community locations throughout the assigned area. This may require occasional distances of up to 2+ hours of driving. The work is performed in a variety of locations, primarily indoors with moderate to high indoor noise levels. Occasionally, work may be in outdoor settings, exposed to varying weather conditions/temperatures.
