Description

Summary

This position requires an independent thinker to lead a team with the project manager. You will be able to guide projects, using your experience and professional judgement to craft the final outcome. You will have the opportunity to develop a wide array of skills. You will have the opportunity to coordinate major aspects and components of projects with teams internal and external to the firm. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

  1. Understand and ensure adherence to SERA's graphic standards across team members.
  2. Ability to work independently on all phases of a project, including the independent construction contract administration on interior design projects.
  3. Supervise, coordinate, plan and review the work of a small staff of designers. This includes the mentoring of ID staff on project teams.
  4. Use the building code to develop floor plans and interior design elements. Provide code interpretations supporting the project objectives.
  5. Lead interiors client presentations.
  6. Familiarity and adherence to project contract requirements.
  7. Provide leadership for the project assigned; create and organize work plans to execute assigned tasks.
  8. Interact with client and other SERA resources to achieve project goals.
  9. Carry out complex or unique assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  10. Ability to design and execute portions of larger projects or entire smaller projects.
  11. Research and select finishes appropriate for the project type and use.
  12. Perform basic project management functions (schedules, staffing and budgets).
  13. Independently coordinate MEP systems relating to interior work.

Additional

  1. Communicate and coordinate with other SERA management staff such as studio leaders (project staffing) and accounting (project budgets).
  2. Be a resource to and/or for other SERA staff.
  3. Be familiar with current trends in the A/E/C industry.
  4. May participate in the management review of staff members.
  5. Provide constructive feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.
  6. Handle the health and welfare of the Revit model.
  7. Develop, codify, and enforce the BIM Execution Plan on assigned projects.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  •  Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program.
  •  Generally have 6+ years of experience.
  •  NCIDQ required.
  •  Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite, and Bluebeam required.
  •  LEED AP Preferred.
  • Hospitality experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Sketchup, SpecLink, Smartsheet, Deltek preferred.
  • Possesses knowledge of the OSSC/ADAAG and possesses the ability to achieve the intent of the code. 
  • Possesses knowledge of other codes such as OMSC, OFC, NFPA, OSHA, FHA, ANSI, City of Portland, etc., and the USGBC LEED rating system and score card.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal, written, and graphic communication formats.
  • Advanced ability to determine the right tool for the task.
  • Advanced ability to prioritize and evaluate multiple important tasks.
  • Established critical thinking to identify strengths, weaknesses, or alternate solutions to a problem with limited supervision.
  • Established professional judgment and decision-making processes to determine the most appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to motivate and guide teams and projects to desired outcomes.
  • Ability to resolve conflict within project teams.
  • Ability to negotiate with and/or advocate for team members, consultants, clients, jurisdictions for the benefit of SERA and the project.
