Description

Linda Hall Library is seeking a part-time Parking Attendant to join our team! This position offers a flexible schedule Monday through Friday, allowing you to work up to 20 hours per week between the hours of 7am and 5pm and on select evenings, until 7:15pm for event parking.


The Linda Hall Library is one of the world’s foremost independent research libraries devoted to science, engineering, and technology. Through the Library’s collections, programming, and strategic partnerships, the Linda Hall Library brings science to life in new and relevant ways to help others better understand the world in which they live. A nonprofit, privately funded institution, the Library is open to the public free of charge.


The Parking Attendant plays a crucial role in the management and organization of the Linda Hall Library parking facilities. Working alongside the Groundskeeping team, this position involves overseeing visitor traffic, ensuring compliance with parking regulations, and maintaining the orderly use of the Library’s parking areas. The Parking Attendant will contribute to the efficient flow of vehicles, assist with special event parking, and perform tasks essential to the upkeep and safety of the parking lot. By doing so, they play a vital role in enhancing the accessibility and overall visitor experience at the Library.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Monitor automobile traffic at parking lot entrance, ensuring that only patron vehicles visiting the Library are permitted to park, while deterring non-library related vehicles from utilizing the parking lot.
  2. Explain and enforce Linda Hall Library parking regulations and issuing parking violations if necessary.
  3. Direct traffic to alternate parking locations.
  4. Assist with after hour event parking by guiding guests to appropriate parking areas and provide necessary information regarding parking and the event.
  5. Perform tasks essential to the upkeep and safety of the parking lot.
  6. Completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the Library.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience interacting with the public

Desirable

  • Previous outdoor experience
