SynTerra is looking for a qualified civil or environmental engineering project manager who has experience with solid waste, water & wastewater, or mining engineering and can offer our clients their expertise. The project manager plays a crucial role in overseeing multiple projects and ensuring their successful completion. The responsibility of this role is to direct projects from the original concept and proposal phase through final implementation and closure. This position interfaces with all project aspects, including clients, other stakeholders, and vendors.
This role's location could also be in Greenville, South Carolina; Atlanta, Georgia; Savannah, Georgia; and Birmingham, Alabama areas.
The civil engineer project manager will be responsible for the following in addition to project work:
• Submit timesheets and expense reports weekly.
• Provide signature level at certain thresholds.
• Assemble the project team, assign individual responsibilities to team members, and identify appropriate resources needed to ensure project completion.
• Prepare project schedules to ensure timely completion of the project.
• Review project deliverables to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Effectively communicate with the client’s primary contact (client manager or other as designated).
• Prepare and review proposals and PCRs before submittal to clients.
• Review and approve monthly project invoices.
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mining engineering or another engineering discipline depending on experience.
- Licensing in any state as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Experience as an Environmental Consultant is preferred. The candidate should have a strong ability to analyze, evaluate, and recommend engineering solutions to clients.
- Experience managing projects is required.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
- industrial solid waste landfill design, construction and operations (plans and air-space use)
- waste handling or beneficial reuse of residuals from pulp and paper manufacturing
- stormwater and wastewater impoundments at pulp and paper manufacturers – design, construction, evaluation, inspections
- regulatory compliance for solid waste, stormwater, and oil pollution control at pulp and paper manufacturers
- support environmental remediation projects at pulp and paper manufacturers
- water and wastewater permitting and design of water/leachate management systems
- innovative problem solving
