Job Summary:  


We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Biomedical Engineer to join our hospital's team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of medical equipment and devices within the hospital. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to support clinical services through the maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment. Additionally, you will contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, providing technical expertise and training to staff. This position is crucial in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care through the reliable and effective use of medical technology. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and Development: Develop new medical devices and equipment, ensuring they meet regulatory and safety standards. 
  • Testing and Evaluation: Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of medical devices to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards. 
  • Research: Stay updated on the latest technological advancements and research in the biomedical field to incorporate new ideas into product development. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals, scientists, and other engineers to understand user needs and translate them into technical specifications. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products meet the necessary regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., FDA, CE). 
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals. 
  • Maintenance and Support: Provide technical support for existing medical devices, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements as needed. 
  • Project Management: Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely and successful completion of projects. 
Requirements

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. 
  • A Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred. 
  • Additional certifications in Biomedical Equipment Technology (e.g., Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician - CBET) are advantageous. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with medical devices and equipment in a clinical or hospital setting. 
  • Proven experience in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment. 
  • Familiarity with hospital protocols and safety standards. 
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to medical devices. 
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards, including FDA and CE compliance. 
  • Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment, collaborating with healthcare professionals and other engineers.

  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong focus on providing excellent service to healthcare staff and ensuring patient safety. 
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting. 
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to new technologies and changes in the healthcare environment. 
  • Technical Documentation: Proficiency in preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation and reports. 
  • Computer Skills: Competence in using computer software related to biomedical engineering, including diagnostic tools, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Training Ability: Capability to train and guide clinical staff on the proper use and maintenance of medical equipment. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Mobility: Ability to move throughout the hospital, including walking, standing, and bending, for extended periods. 
  • Lifting: Capability to lift and carry equipment and tools weighing up to [Insert Weight, e.g., 50 pounds]. 
  • Dexterity: Manual dexterity to handle small components and tools for equipment repairs and maintenance. 
  • Vision: Good visual acuity to inspect equipment, read technical manuals, and work with intricate parts. 
  • Safety: Must adhere to hospital safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
