Overview of Org/Position

Colorado Enterprise Fund (CEF) is a nonprofit business lending organization dedicated to the success of small businesses in Colorado. We provide access to capital for Colorado small businesses that are unable to access traditional financing. Our primary focus areas are business owners who may be low to moderate income, minority, women, or veterans. We’re committed to creating meaningful impact in Colorado’s communities by providing equitable and affordable business financing for entrepreneurs who cannot access bank loans or other financial resources.

As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we offer loans, grants, and free business coaching to entrepreneurs to help them succeed. 


Colorado small business owners and entrepreneurs seek aid from our organization in moving towards the major step of asking for financial loans that they have not been able to find from traditional resources such as banks.

  

CEF offers a hybrid work environment with a blend of in-office and remote work. As an established CDFI, we offer the following:

The Financial Analyst is primarily responsible for preparing periodic financial reporting for external investors and other entities. This position will support the Finance department with annual budgeting, quarterly re-forecasting, and variance analysis. This role is also responsible for ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis as business needs dictate. 


Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collect and prepare quarterly and annual reporting on financial results and key metrics including, but not limited to, loan production, loan portfolio, and borrower demographic information.
  • Maintain a reporting calendar to ensure information is provided to external and internal stakeholders by reporting deadlines. 
  • Create and maintain reporting dashboards and Excel models.
  • Assist the Finance department with annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly analysis on variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year actuals.
  • Provide reporting to internal budget owners on actual expenses vs. budget. 
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and financial modeling for CEF senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist or lead process improvement projects.
Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline. 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in financial reporting and/or accounting.
  • Experience working in a CDFI and/or with Small Business Administration programs or similar institution is a plus, however not required!

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Familiarity with nonprofit reporting, accounting, and auditing practices
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission, guiding principles, and strong work ethic
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines for financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel 
  • Strongly self-motivated and able to follow through in completing high-quality, detailed work with minimal supervision 
  • Collaborative approach combined with the flexibility to work with broad range of cultures, personalities, and work styles. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in client relationship management (CRM) tools, business intelligence (BI) tools, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word
  • Strong understanding of identifying, generating, and tracking financial metrics
  • Ability to translate operational processes into financial metrics and reporting
  • Capacity to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet internal and external deadlines Experience with financial modeling and forecasting
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and efficiencies
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, accurate, well -organized recommendations and reports and to communicate verbally in an effective manner 

Workspace/Physical Requirements

  • CEF is a hybrid workplace; employees will travel to main CEF office for regular meetings and training events for staff
  • Internet services to ensure work responsibilities can be fully met (CEF provides basic equipment) 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Fast paced environment with ability to adjust with shifting priorities as needed to meet the needs of our customer base
