The Project is pleased to announce that we are actively seeking an Iowa Field Benefits Specialist to provide education and assistance with enrollment in Medicare, Medicaid, marketplace, and private insurance for individuals enrolled in Ryan White Part B Medical Case Management services at the Project of the Quad Cities. The Iowa Field Benefits Specialist will work closely with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and HIV Medical Case Managers at TPQC to ensure clients are enrolled in the benefits home that most comprehensively meets their needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Act as TPQC’s expert for Iowa Medicaid, Medicare, and marketplace enrollment. Work directly with Iowa HIV Medical Case Management clients to ensure enrollment in the most appropriate benefit home.
- Educate and assist clients with enrolling in alternative insurance options including Medicare, Medicare Supplemental, Medicaid, COBRA, private insurance, and marketplace plans during open enrollment or during otherwise identified eligibility periods.
- Complete data entry for enrollment and recertification in the Iowa BDAP (Benefits and Drug Assistance Program). Track and record all client services accurately and in a timely manner in REMI and CAREWare as appropriate.
- Act as a resource for TPQC HIV Medical Case Managers as it relates to allowable medical, dental, and mental health services through Ryan White Part B Iowa funding.
This full-time position is based at our office in Moline, Illinois with typical hours Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Working flexibly (some days of the week remotely) is available. This is a non-supervisory position. Upon hire, this position will require Certified Application Counselor and SHIIP training certifications.
Compensation
Compensation starts at $19.32/hour ($40,194/year based on 40 hours/week.) The final offered salary is determined by years of professional and/or lived experience beyond the minimum requirement, with an additional 2.5% for those proficient in a second language relevant to the role. Our compensation structure is experience-centric and not contingent on education. As part of our commitment to pay equity, salaries are non-negotiable and include an annual cost of living increase.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent degree
- One or more years of related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job requirements.
- Strong cultural awareness of people living with HIV/AIDS, men who have sex with men, communities of color, and people with substance use issues and how this may affect or influence service delivery.
- Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical conversations for how TPQC can better meet the needs of those we serve.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Experience working in health insurance
- Special population experience: HIV/AIDS, domestic violence and sexual assault victims and survivors, LGBTQ+ men who have sex with men, Hispanic or Spanish speaking populations, people of color, refugees and/or immigrants, substance use and/or counseling
