CMS is seeking a Site Superintendent for ongoing work at Cape Canaveral, FL. This role will lead on-site activities and execution for construction projects valued at $30 million or more. The Superintendent may also serve as the Alternate Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) or Alternate Quality Control Manager (QCM). Candidates must be experienced in managing heavy civil and airfield pavement work and familiar with EM 385-1-1 safety standards.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain look-ahead schedules and production goals
  • Ensure all work follows approved scope, work plans, and applicable regulations
  • Maintain and update the Project Field Manual
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and manage field execution for safe, high-quality, and on-time project completion
  • Monitor and document work performance, reporting any schedule or cost concerns to the Project Management Team
  • Lead and attend meetings including Red Zone, partnering, and QC coordination; use Red Zone Checklist as a planning tool
  • Complete jobsite daily reports and documentation including safety briefings, production logs, and photo tracking
  • Manage on-site meetings and distribute updated schedules and meeting minutes
  • Coordinate inspections, materials, and required equipment in collaboration with other departments
  • Interact with Government representatives and external stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years as a Superintendent on projects of $30M+
  • Experience with DoD construction projects and civil/airfield pavement work
  • Ability to read construction drawings and interpret critical path schedules
  • Familiarity with EM 385-1-1, hazard identification, and safety-related practices

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Associate’s degree with at least 7 years of experience in a superintendent or crew leadership role on large-scale projects
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 10 years of similar superintendent or foreman experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in EM 385-1-1 guidelines and safety best practices
  • Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking at the job site
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to make informed decisions and take ownership of results
  • Knowledge of scheduling, cost tracking, construction sequencing, and technical plan interpretation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong documentation, coordination, and organizational skills

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Reports to a Project Manager
  • Directs and coordinates subcontractor and trade work on-site

Working Conditions

  • Physical effort required; ability to lift or move materials frequently
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and walk construction sites
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Work is performed outdoors at active job sites
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet company insurance requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
