Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and upkeep of simulation devices.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Electrical Engineering group to troubleshoot and update electrical/electronic simulator systems
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of training devices and supporting equipment
  • Perform daily operational readiness testing
  • Prepare maintenance action reports, and other support documentation
  • Provide simulator instructor and student support
  • Support simulator modifications and upgrades
  • Support simulator certification activity


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

MID: 3-7 Years

  • Working knowledge of flight simulators or equivalent complex electronics systems and the operating principles of digital and analog electronics
  • Demonstrated experience reading electrical schematics and troubleshoot electronic components
  • Working knowledge of instruments and devices associated with the avionics industry
  • Working knowledge of standard electronic test equipment including multi-meter and oscilloscope


ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to clearly relay information, both verbally and written to others
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
  • Ability to function in a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to effectively use computers to navigate standard office PC software
  • Interact well within a team environment


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in an Electronics field from an accredited university or completion of Vo-Tech or military simulator or electronics program (Preferred)


EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Due to contractual requirements must be a United States Citizen
  • Must be able to pass an initial background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance. Employee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required)
  • Travel (CONUS and/or OCONUS) is required to support on-site integration, testing, and acceptance which may include extended periods at customer locations.
  • ASI is a Drug Free Workplace where applicants and employees are required to successfully pass pre-employment and Random drug testing.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
  • Must be able to perform normal office duties (sitting for long periods at a desk or while attending meetings).
  • Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS via multiple types of transportation to include car and airplane.
  • Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment consisting of offices and cubicles with low to moderate noise and bright or dim lighting.
  • The work is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures.
  • The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as external customers.
