Range Mental Health Center is proud to be a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The goals of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics program in MN are to 1) increase access to community-based mental health and substance use disorder services (particularly to under-served communities), 2) advance integration of behavioral health with physical health care, and 3) improve utilization of evidence-based practices on a more consistent basis.


Position Summary:

The Mental Health Therapist/Substance Use Disorders (LADC) will assist clients in recovery from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders through counseling, education, role modeling, and empathetic support by using trauma-informed organizational model of care.  



Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides comprehensive services for clients through competencies related to evidence-based practices.
  • Has a therapeutic approach of being empathetic, respectful and motivational, while encouraging clients to take responsibility for their lives.
  • Is able to work well with others and actively participates as part of the treatment teams.
  • Demonstrated high professional and ethical standards.
  • Acts as a positive role model, providing clients with guidance and support that is align with RMHC culture and values.
  • Provides screenings and assessments for both mental health and substance use services at our locations our out in the community.
  • Conducts initial assessments and evaluations and completes the required documentation required by statute and program guidelines.
  • Gather data from the client and other sources; analyze and interpret the data to identify client needs.
  • Treatment planning, collaborate with the client to develop treatment plans, identify and prioritize problems, goals and treatment methods.
  • Provide individual, family and group counseling for co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Educate clients and their families with information about substance use, co-occurring disorders, treatment, recovery and other related resources.
  • Respond to clients’ needs internally and/or externally during extreme distress or emergencies.
  • Coordinate with clients and resources to focus on identified needs and person-centered goals.
  • Assist with clients’ needs for internal and or external resources for additional referrals.
  • Consult with other professionals on client’s treatment and services to assure integrative treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and compliance with DHS requirements.
  • Attend and participate in weekly and monthly clinical staff meetings and supervision as required.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and high ethical and professional boundaries and standards.
  • Respond to inquiries either via phone, writing or in person.
  • Participate in public engagements as assigned.
  • Provide outreach services as needed to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to formulate and prepare professional quality assessments, treatment plans, notes and other required correspondence or records in a timely fashion
  • Assertiveness sufficient to complete positions essential functions
  • Able to attend to nonverbal cues from people in the therapy setting
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of interaction with people in the treatment setting and other relevant confidential information
  • Able to handle sensitive situation in a calm, professional manner
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks with sufficient flexibility to meet demands in the fluid and changing environment
  • Able to facilitate group interactions between people that are directed at therapeutic goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field
  • Licensed Alcohol Drug Counselor by the state of Minnesota
  • Two years freedom from chemical use
  • Pass Department of Human Services background check
  • Meet minimum training requirements under the MN Department of Human Services and MN Department of Health
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required 
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate credentials as a licensed provider in the state of Minnesota
  • LADC and Independent Clinical License preferred. Sufficient skills and experience to be credentialed by the insurance firms with whom RMHC has contracts.
  • Current Minnesota driver’s license, with acceptable driving record


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 
  • Adequate level of vision to use computer terminal.
  • Sufficient hearing to accurately record information received verbally.
  • Must be 18 years of age. 
  • Maintain a professional level of cleanliness and physical appearance
  • Sufficient vision to utilize computer monitor
  • Ability to verbally communicate that is sufficiently clear to be easily understood.
