We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Analytics Manager with specific underwriting expertise in the consumer financial services industry, particularly in credit cards, leases, and loans. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and business intelligence within the consumer finance sector. This role will be responsible for leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making, optimize business performance, and enhance customer experience, ensuring that expectations and timelines are met, and necessary support is provided to key stakeholders. Supporting risk management, and financial due diligence activities. In addition, underwriting managers also play a significant role in developing and enacting policies and procedures in regional offices.

Consumer Financial Services Industry - Credit Cards, Leases, and Loans

  • Analyze financial data related to credit cards, leases, and loans to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Utilize advanced statistical modeling techniques to forecast credit risk, assess portfolio performance, and optimize pricing strategies.
  • Independently assess and opine upon the overall credit risk and effectiveness of credit risk management processes. 
  • Internal advisor to lending units and credit administration / risk management to identify, recommend and effect process changes regarding credit risk management activities, regulatory issues related to credit risk, credit policy, and general credit underwriting guidelines
  • Identifies current or potential problems regarding the assessment of credit risk and the administration of credit/loan exposure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards and reports to track and monitor business performance.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support business initiatives and identify opportunities for underwriting process improvement.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in consumer financial services, specifically in credit cards, leases, and loans.
  • lead and manage examinations of various types of credit portfolios and credit processes. Perform risk based independent reviews of all types of credit and loan portfolios 
  • identify current or potential problems, as well as positive elements, regarding the assessment of credit risk and the administration of credit/loan exposure.
  • Determines the accuracy of assigned internal credit risk ratings, non-compliance with policies and procedures, so that timely corrective actions can be taken to avoid violations of laws and regulations and inadequate credit/collateral documentation.
  • Identifies, recommends and effects process changes as related to credit risk management activities, regulatory statutes, credit policy and general credit underwriting guidelines. Interprets and evaluates the company’s Credit Policy and assures that proper credit controls are in place to appropriately manage credit risk. 
  • Monitors adherence to such policies and validates that exceptions are adequately identified, fully justified and properly approved.
  • Acts as internal advisor/partner to leaders regarding loan and credit matters and provides guidance in areas that require further development.
  • Prepares departmental reports and other portfolio reporting as requested by leadership.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in economics, finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of underwriting and credit examination experience
  • Knowledge of credit risk modeling, portfolio analysis, and pricing strategies within the consumer finance sector.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, statistical modeling, or business intelligence within the consumer financial services industry, with a focus on credit cards, leases, and loans.
  • Thorough knowledge of Probability of Default (PD) and Loss Given Default (LGD) systems required.
  • Strong proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or SAS.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
