Housing Search Worker
Description

The Housing Search Worker provides a variety of services and referrals to families residing in Friendly House’s transitional/permanent scattered sites programs. He/She/They will act as a resource to participant families and help prepare them for independent living. 


Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a trusting relationship with clients and their family members.
  • Work with appropriate team members to coordinate services and referrals for homeless families. 
  • Search for new units, assist with move in/out inspections, make copies of keys, liaison between landlord and tenants. 
  • Handle all communication with landlords.
  • Assist in rent calculations as needed. Collect rent money orders & make copies for record keeping.
  • Make calls to participants regarding rent/unit issues.
  • Act as a positive role model in nurturance and developmental skills; shows respect and provides support to participants at all times.
  • Participate in the development of individual service plans; makes referrals to needed community resources, and records necessary information and notes in participant files.
  • Assist families in obtaining necessary furniture and supplies for their home.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Stay relevant within the field of work by attending seminars or formalized courses of instruction, as well as maintaining current knowledge of community resources.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or significant experience with community resources, knowledge and experience in identifying client’s needs and success with appropriate involvement from outside agencies.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
