Position: Development Research Coordinator 


Responsible to: Development Operations Manager


Location: New York, New York (hybrid/ in-person 2 days in office schedule) Full-time, M-F.

Departmental Role: Strengthen the national organization so it provides the most effective and efficient support and resources to Affiliates. 


Summary: Under the direction of the Development Operations Manager, the Development Research Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the Development Department, supporting both research and operations activities. They will regularly respond to requests from Development as well as the CEO’s office to find, interpret and present biographical, professional, and financial information needed to facilitate relationship building and the solicitation of gifts.  Included in this position will be working within a wealth management software and the CRM to maximize existing relationships and identify new prospects. The Development Research Coordinator will spend approximately 30% of their time on administrative and operational support of the department, working with the Development Operations Team on day-to-day operations procedures such as gifts processing, data management, and donor support.

The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, excited to work with data, able to evaluate and synthesize facts and figures, and an excellent writer. This role is ideal for an early-career candidate looking to get experience in prospect research and charitable fundraising. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Fulfills research requests on current donors and prospects for corporate, foundation, institutional, individual and major gifts,
  • Maintains prospect research fields of data in the Salesforce CRM system and assists with the timely movement of prospects through various cultivation stages leading to solicitation. 
  • Ensures capacity and inclination ratings are captured in Salesforce and interpreted from prospecting tools, subscriptions, and platforms that assist in building a pipeline of new donors and increasing support from current ones. 
  • Prepares and disseminates user-friendly profiles, briefings, memos and reports on high-capacity prospects for leadership. At the discretion of the Development Operations Manager, and/or the Chief Development Officer, this position may take on special research assignments not directly related to fundraising.
  • Provides administrative and operational support to the department, completing tasks such as filing, donor communications, and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications (Training Available):

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Experience accessing and interpreting public records, wealth/financial information and/or consumer buyer analytics.
  • Familiarity with CRM databases, preferably Salesforce.

Minimum Salary: $58,000 - $60,000
