The Transcriptionist transcribes physicians' daily chart notes, correspondence, histories and physicals, operative reports, projects and articles for publication.


This role is eligible for remote work in Colorado, adhering to the department operating hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Types and edits physician chart notes, operative reports, histories and physicals, and other correspondence proficiently and accurately on a daily basis.
  • Proofreads and corrects all transcriptions prior to submission
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of medical terminology
  • Prints documents and accurately files them into charts. Investigates and resolves any missing information.
  • Routes appropriate narratives to case management team for billing
  • Faxes dictation per routing on charts
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of medical transcription experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology for all clinic services is required.
  • Must be an accurate and proficient typist with basic language and sentence structure skills. Must be able to type 80 wpm from voice recognition dictation equipment utilizing earphones and foot controls.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and voice recognition software preferred.
  • Core competencies in quality, quantity, detail oriented, communication, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  

This position works in a typical medical office environment. There are regular interruptions and significant distractions to work including, but not limited to: phones ringing; patients and staff walking by; noisy conversations that carry; and answering questions asked by others. 


This is a mostly sedentary position that requires the ability to move about an office environment and operate office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, and fax machines. The person in this position must frequently communicate with patients, doctors, coworkers, and others utilizing various equipment such as telephones and email.
