About Discovery Plus Specialized Program
In 2020-2021, FirstLine Schools will pilot a specialized program at three of our schools for students with cognitive impairments in grades 3 - 8 whose cognitive functioning is 2.3 or more standard deviations below the mean and also have a clear need in two or more of the following areas: Life Skills Support (e.g. toileting, play, social communication, feeding, etc.), Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Motor Skills Support (Physical Therapy and Adaptive Physical Education). The mission for our FirstLine Schools Discovery Plus Program is for all students to be provided with the skills to lead big, purposeful lives. Our vision for meeting our mission is by providing our students with rigorous academic curricula, intentional teaching of transition/life skills, and a classroom environment with a robust level of support and related services. Furthermore, we believe that our students with exceptionalities excel in mind, body, and spirit through intentional community collaboration that drives and responds to student data.
The Specialized Program Manager, under the supervision of the Director of Student Support Services, is responsible for ensuring the academic and program success of students in the Discovery Plus Program by providing leadership that ensures services and supports meet the mission and vision of the program. This position would support both Discovery and Discovery Plus teachers, lead weekly Professional Learning Time (PLT) during our early-release day, create a scope-and-sequence for life skills/transition programming, oversee curriculum fidelity, and act as an enrollment office liaison. This position is a member of the School’s Team.

SPECIALIZED PROGRAM MANAGER reports to: Special Education Manager
