Departmental Role: Strengthen the national organization so it provides the most effective and efficient support and resources to Affiliates.
Summary: The IT Director will play a critical role in advancing the organization’s mission by overseeing all aspects of information technology (IT) within the organization. This includes strategic planning, implementation, and management of IT systems and infrastructure. The IT Director will ensure that technology supports the organization’s goals and enhances its service delivery, advocacy efforts, and operational efficiency. The IT Director will be responsible for overseeing the technological direction of the company, managing a team of IT professionals, and ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems, negotiating and managing contracts with technology vendors and service providers. Oversight of comprehensive cybersecurity measures and IT risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Leadership:
- Recommend and maintain an IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
- Implement the IT strategy approved by the IT Executive Committee.
- Provide leadership and guidance on IT matters to the executive team and staff.
- Identify and implement innovative technologies to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Provide input to and enforce the IT policies implemented by the various IT governance committees.
- IT Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and security systems.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems.
- Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Ensure IT service desk operations are meeting performance metrics.
- Data Management and Security:
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and security of all data.
- Oversee data management, including data collection, storage, analysis, reporting, retention, and destruction.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Oversee the development of an application lifecycle management plan to minimize the number of disparate systems, control costs, and improve the ease of providing analytics to the organization.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Manage and develop a lean, high-performing IT department. Delegate responsibilities and supervise team operations.
- Oversight of all contracted IT resources to ensure the accountability
- Develop programs to provide training to staff to ensure effective use of IT systems and tools.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance IT staff skills and knowledge.
- Project Management:
- Must be able to manage multiple simultaneous projects in flight.
- Track and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to executives in a written format.
- Create and maintain metrics and dashboards to demonstrate IT value and performance.
- Create operational metrics, KPIs, risks, and service level agreements with all vendors to ensure their value to the organization can be measured.
- Work with staff to develop a clear business case process for all IT projects that includes:
- The business problem(s) to be solved
- Technical, financial, operational, reputational, and staff impacts
- Alternative solutions
- Project timelines with milestones, metrics, training plans, and communication plans
- Lead IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet organizational needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify technology needs and implement solutions.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Lead large IT projects from conception to implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee the procurement and management of IT assets, including hardware and software licensing.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities for IT projects and initiatives.
Why should you apply?
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or 10+ years of demonstrated experience managing technical projects; Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
- Proven experience, minimum of 8 years of experience, as an IT director, or similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector for a mid-size or larger organization.
- Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations.
- Strong knowledge of how IT infrastructure, systems, and applications relate and operate together.
- Experience with data management and security best practices.
- Proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies, define requirements, and manage projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Minimum Salary: $125,000-$135,000 commensurate with experience
