The PMO Team Lead at BWF plays a key role in overseeing and supervising our Project Management Office (PMO) in our efforts to help nonprofit organizations across the country and world as they strengthen their philanthropy efforts and advance their missions. As a supervisor, you will utilize your project management expertise and leadership skills to guide and mentor your portion of the PMO team, ensuring the successful execution of client projects.
Your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage your own assigned project teams, budgets and work plans and work directly with both the BWF project team and our client partners. In addition to project management responsibilities, you will provide supervision and guidance to your team, including assigning projects and tasks, monitoring progress, ensuring team members understand and are implementing project processes and methodology, and providing constructive feedback on their performance. This position relies heavily on previous management and project management experience, organization, communication, good judgement, and proactive time management. The ability to exercise initiative, independent judgement, and have accountability for various processes and projects is critical.
Essential Functions
Supervisory Responsibilities (40%)
- Provide supervision and guidance to team members, including assigning projects and tasks, monitoring progress, workload and utilization and providing feedback on performance.
- Conduct regular check-ins and meetings with direct reports to review progress, address challenges, and provide support and guidance.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.
- Collaborate with supervisor to identify training needs and opportunities for the team and individual team members.
- Collaborate with supervisor and other team leads to plan and run weekly PMO team meetings and quarterly PMO team retreats.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of training programs.
- Assist in recruitment and onboarding process for new team members, including conducting interviews and providing input on hiring decisions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting collaboration, open communication, and a shared commitment to BWF’s goals and values.
- Resolve conflicts and escalate issues as necessary to ensure optimal team performance.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to performance and progress of team members.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in project management and provide recommendations for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
Project Management Responsibilities (60%)
- Manage day-to-day operations of multiple projects from start to finish including budgets, deliverables, milestones, and required activities; communicating project status with consultants and clients on a regular basis.
- Utilize firm tools, software and methodology, as appropriate, for management of all client projects.
- Collaborate with consulting team members and clients to gather requirements for the creation of both internal and client-facing documentation and reports, data analysis benchmarking, and other project specific deliverables.
- Contribute to and taking ownership in the preparation of client deliverables, including presentations, reports and correspondence.
- Serve as lead Project Manager on projects that require multiple project managers, directing other project managers on project.
- Assist in the development and documentation of processes and procedures as they relate to the PMO team and project management at the firm.
- Coordinate the collection and dissemination of research resources, such as industry-published reports.
- Participate and provide leadership in firm initiatives and special projects as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 6+ years of project management experience and the ability to manage multiple components of complex projects.
- 2+ years of experience managing a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Well-developed organizational and prioritization skills; flexibility; attention to detail; and the ability to work both independently and with a team toward a common goal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, and interpersonal skills; initiative and follow-through; sound discretion and judgment.

- PMP or project management certification preferred.
- Familiarity with the nonprofit sector a plus.
Work Environment/Conditions
- This position is based in the company’s Minneapolis office. Employees in our Minneapolis office are currently working in a hybrid model, spending days in the office and remotely each week.
- Position requires ability to work in a stationary position for majority of workday.
- Continuous use of computer.
- Frequent communication with team and clients via zoom and in person.
- This is an exempt position that requires at least 40 hour of work per week but due to the nature of this role, additional hours are required when deadlines need to be met.
- Overnight travel to client sites, conferences or firm meetings is sometimes required (up to 20%).

Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 based on qualifications and experience.
