The Membership Manager talks to parents and girls about joining our organization and helps identify new volunteers who want to bring Girl Scouts to their local communities. The right candidate is an outgoing, self-motivated, goal-oriented team player who likes to provide strategic solutions, tell the story of Girl Scouting, and network with community organizations, corporations, schools, educators, faith-based intuitions, and other community constituents. 


This individual will attend and host events, in-person and virtually, across a designated territory and directly impact the overall fiscal success of Girl Scouts of North Carolina Coastal Pines (GSNCCP) by bringing the Girl Scout experience to more girls and adults across their territory.


The Membership Manager position is a hybrid position, NOT a fully remote position. The individual MUST reside within North Carolina and will be required to travel to Johnston County to attend in-person events 4-5 times a week. 


A Day in the Life: 

  • Increase girl and adult membership in the assigned geographic areas by developing and implementing recruitment and re-engagement strategies in partnership with volunteer leadership.
  • Work in partnership with the Regional Director on regional and Council-wide projects (membership strategy, volunteer engagement, retention, troop recruitment tactics).
  • Develop strategies to identify and address membership growth opportunities based on analysis of demographics and community needs.
  • Promptly follow up on leads and referrals. 
  • Coordinate and schedule in-person or virtual sessions to meet with prospective members in a variety of settings and venues; prepare and present information to audiences intended to increase awareness, interest, and membership in GSNCCP.
  • Promote and support council fundraising efforts and initiatives, including but not limited to Fall Product Sale, Annual Cookie Sale Program, and Family Partnership.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with donors, United Ways, members, volunteers, staff, and community contacts.
  • Demonstrate leadership by effectively managing conflict through modeling appropriate behavior, problem-solving, and providing support.
Requirements


  • Experience in sales, membership, recruitment of volunteers, or account management preferred. A Bachelor’s degree will be considered.
  • Ability to work with volunteers and community contacts from diverse backgrounds and to build effective volunteer leadership teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.  This position requires an average of 2-4 work evenings per week during peak recruitment season with extensive travel within the designated territory. 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce results.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be detail-oriented.
  • This position requires driving a council vehicle or a personal vehicle; therefore, the individual must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license, and self-report any vehicle violations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

  • Must be willing to obtain a GSUSA membership upon employment.
