The Project Coordinator for R&D is responsible for managing the operational aspects of new product development projects from initiation through product release. Key responsibilities include tracking project progress, negotiating tooling and unit costs, and providing status updates to management. The Project Coordinator works closely with Product Development Engineers and Product Managers (PMs) to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all specified requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Organize project kick-off meetings to initiate new projects, define project goals, establish delivery timelines, draft project plans, and identify key milestones.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineers, PMs, and other stakeholders to drive new product development.
- Set up brainstorming sessions, leveraging both domestic and international resources to generate and refine design concepts.
- Monitor the status of all projects, proactively communicating any delays or obstacles with the R&D team and stakeholders to expedite progress.
- Lead R&D project operational tasks, including maintaining detailed records, managing development samples, and delivering regular project status updates to the R&D team.
- Maintain and update the R&D SharePoint/Teams site, ensuring project management records are current and accessible to engineers, PMs, and stakeholders.
- Work closely with engineers and PMs to establish project priorities and allocate resources based on needs and deadlines.
- Participate in design discussions aimed at minimizing tooling costs and reducing the overall cost of goods.
- Negotiate tooling and unit costs with suppliers, leveraging an understanding of tooling structures and material costs.
- Organize and maintain detailed records of development samples and component parts.
- Identify constraints and opportunities for improvement within the R&D team and report findings to management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality while fostering effective communication with both internal and external partners.
- Ensure high standards of communication among all parties involved, helping to keep team members accountable, motivated, and engaged.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in project management, product management, or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required.
- Ability to understand basic engineering concepts and product structures.
