Position Title: Parish Organist / Pianist

Employment Type: Part-time 6-10 hours per week

FLSA: Non-exempt
Pay Rate: Pianist $30-33/hr.; Organist $37-40/hr.
Position Summary:
Our parish organist (or pianist) will assist in leading the faithful in full and active participation in the sacred music of the liturgy.
In addition to the regular schedule of 2 Sunday morning Masses (8:00am and 9:45am) our accompanist will also be available for special Masses throughout the year (such as feast days / solemnities), and regular rehearsals with our Schola and Traditional choirs (~1x a week on Thursday evenings).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Be the organist / main accompanist for 2 Sunday Masses (8:00am & 9:45am
- Make a minimum of 1x choir practice a week
- Actively practice and prepare music outside of practice during the week.
- Have strong sight-reading skills.
- Additional improvisation skills (such as reading chords / lead sheets) is preferred.
- Awareness of liturgical elements / order of the Holy Mass
- Enthusiasm for sacred music / serving in liturgical ministry
Education, Experience, Skills and Qualities:
- Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in music, and/or 2+ years serving in music ministry at a Catholic parish.
- Applicants should excel in sight reading, thorough knowledge of playing the organ/piano, and be comfortable with both homophonic and polyphonic music.
- Finally, applicants must be active, practicing Catholics, with an enthusiasm for using their musical talent to give glory to God and assist in elevating the beauty and reverence owed to the Mass and other liturgies.
