Description

Under general supervision, the Accounting Collection Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to ABC's customers, employees, and vendors. Success in this role requires effective communication with customers and staff to ensure the highest level of service. The position demands confidence, decisiveness, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in various dynamic scenarios. Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a team-oriented mindset are essential for this role.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Initiate outbound collections calls to customers with outstanding account balances.
  • Make outbound calls to update credit card information due to declined, lost, or expired cards.
  • Respond to inbound accounting customer service calls and emails.
  • Provide professional, timely, accurate, and efficient customer service for all requests verbally and in writing.
  • Resolve or diffuse issues and provide timely feedback to the supervisor regarding customer or staff concerns.
  • Address customer concerns by clarifying the complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution, expediting corrections or adjustments, and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records by promptly updating account information.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all tasks are completed promptly and accurately.
  • Contribute to team efforts and provide backup/support as needed.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and other required events.
  • Collaborate with other departments and employees to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude. 
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills with previous collections experience.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability and composure under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
  • Basic understanding of billing and accounting principles.
  • Ability to handle complex, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in dealing with difficult people while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Strong work ethic and team player mentality.
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, such as typing and using a mouse.
  • Visual acuity to read and interpret documents and computer screens.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Walking moderate distances throughout the office.
