Program Description

Longroad Energy’s internship program provides opportunities for undergraduate students from underrepresented communities to explore careers in renewable energy. In 2025, Longroad will offer paid internship positions that create challenging hands-on learning experiences for college juniors, entering their senior year in the Fall. Selected interns will participate in a 10–12-week summer program that includes onboarding, structured work experience, mentoring, and exposure both to department-specific and company-wide personnel and activities 


Job Purpose

The Legal Intern will work directly with attorneys and paralegals in Longroad’s legal department and gain exposure to a variety of legal disciplines and functions, including operations, corporate governance, commercial transactions, and real estate. The Legal Intern will work on a diverse mix of assignments and on a range of transactions, research, and policy matters. The intern will also have the opportunity to work with intern(s) on other teams. Longroad currently cannot extend return offers to graduating interns, but in future years may create more entry-level positions. 

Hybrid work arrangement commutable to our San Francisco, CA office highly preferred but strong remote candidates will be considered.


Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Assist with and support matters falling under the following categories: real estate, permitting & local affairs, commercial, corporate and regulatory matters, alongside and under supervision by Longroad attorneys.  
  • Review and analyze proposed and enacted federal, state, or local legislation and regulations related to renewable energy.
  • Assist in the review and drafting of corporate governance documents for consistency and compliance.
  • Assist with filings for federal and state judiciary and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with implementation of company internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and draft basic contracts.
  • Support asset managers and other departments on information requests.
  • Potentially visit operating wind and solar projects, and/or the office if working remotely (funding will be provided for travel).

Qualifications:

  • Rising undergraduate Junior or Senior student at a four-year college 
  • GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Interest in renewable energy industry
  • Good writing skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Interest in the legal profession
  • This position has been established to provide opportunities for students from underrepresented demographics in the fields of finance and renewable energy, including first-generation college students.
