Trenam Law is seeking a Human Resources Manager with 5-7 years of relevant human resources experience, preferably in a professional services organization. This generalist position will work primarily from our Tampa office, with periodic travel to the St Petersburg and Sarasota offices. While remote/hybrid work is an option after an introductory period, this is not a remote position.
Areas of Responsibility
Attention to the integration of our newly opened Sarasota office will be needed and some travel to that office will be necessary.
Primary leadership for employee benefits, working with the firm’s brokers to propose appropriate benefits offerings, educate others, monitor use and work with vendors to ensure effective utilization of cost-saving tools. Candidates should have prior responsibility for health benefits administration/decisions, and preferably have experience with a self-insured/stop-loss captive model.
Employee onboarding is an important role to ensure all employees receive consistent messaging and orientation as they begin working. Outreach begins before the hire date and continues into the first several months. Works closely with the Recruiting/Retention team during hiring and throughout the transition into the firm. Oversees the background check process and addresses issues that arise.
Maintaining effective employee relations through effective policies and procedures is important and requires listening and balancing employee and firm needs/expectations. Responds to and mediates disputes, performance concerns, and workplace complaints. May incorporate employee surveys to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities.
Manage the payroll function of the firm, to include supervising the payroll/benefits coordinator. This position will learn the Paylocity system and act as backup for payroll processing. Prior experience with HRIS software will be helpful in assessing current systems and leading potential change. Will lead the annual salary administration process for non-attorney employees.
Administer annual evaluation process and incorporate new methodology as beneficial and fitting with firm culture. Conduct annual reviews with non-attorney employees and provide evaluations to practice group leaders for their reviews of associates. Address performance concerns as they arise.
The firm hosts numerous social and team building events, and internal training during the year which are organized by a small team. The HR Manager will participate in the planning and execution of these events. Past experience working with event venues and vendors will be helpful.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources, and prior law firm experience is preferred.
• SHRM or other HR certification
• Confidence in decision making while remaining open to input from others.
• Effective writing skills and presentation abilities.
• Familiarity with employment laws, common HR processes, new trends in HR.
• Experience working with attorneys and law firm team leaders is helpful.
• Full-time position in office exempt position. Some remote flexibility after introductory period.
