Description
Basic Function: Plans and performs a range of activities to setup and operate CNC machining equipment. Performs a variety of machining operations, including but not limited to turning, drilling, reaming, boring, counter boring, milling, tapping, threading, and others. Performs machining operations on a variety of materials including but not limited to aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and fiberglass. Writes and edits programs to maintain part specifications. Performs other related or associated duties as assigned or directed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Program, Offset, Set up, adjust, and operate Mazak (Mazatrol) CNC and Fanuc based CNC Mills.
- Must be able to run manual mills, lathes and other related equipment
- Ability to use all types of inspection instruments to check work per print without supervision
- Help solve machining problems related to assigned machine
- Read and Interpret prints and inspect parts per the print specifications
- Help train and assist new operators
- Able to write, read, and edit CNC programs in conversational and G/M code
- Maintain a clean, safe and 5S organized work area
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Observes numerical control displays on control panel and compares the data with prints
- Possess knowledge of various cutting tool and has the ability to determine various machine speeds and feeds
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Associates Degree a plus
- At least 1 year experience with Mazak (Mazatrol) machines and M and G code preferred.
- 1 years’ experience in the operation of CNC Machines, while also being efficient at manual machines is desired
- Able to create, edit, troubleshoot and build CNC programs is a required.
- Process improvement minded.
- Ability to read, comprehend and interpret blueprints, drawings, etc.
- Must be capable of using measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gage, bore gage, etc.
- M and G code experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Lifts frequently (75% of normal work day) material weighing 0 – 10 lbs.
- Occasionally lifts material weighing 25-50 lbs. (10% of the normal work day) Lifting generally from floor level to waist level.
- Stands in place for up to 3 hours.
- Must be capable of close, distant, and color vision and have good depth perception.
- Must reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Be able to read part numbers and directions provided on a worksheet.
- Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.
Salary Description
Starting at $21.50/hr - $24.00/hr
