General Summary: Responsible for managing company assets, primarily vehicles and heavy equipment, and for managing personnel who maintain and repair those assets.
Positions reporting to this position: Manages 5 or more subordinate personnel.
Job Duties:
- Directs, coordinates, and evaluates Mechanical unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Monitors proper allocation and scheduling of personnel and equipment to respond to customer needs on professional basis in emergency and non-emergency basis from a mechanical perspective
- Directs and ensures mechanical program and procedures (including repair, inspection, record keeping, and training) are implemented and followed at all levels of the operation to meet company and all mechanical standards
- Plans, assigns, and directs work of subordinate personnel
- Works closely with Operations Personnel, Mechanical Managers and Senior Management to resolve maintenance issues, recommends measures to improve equipment operation and condition, and determines current and future equipment requirements and budgets
- Reviews production, quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify equipment maintenance activities
- Oversees and reviews purchase requisitions and bid processing to ensure cost effectiveness and quality products and service from vendors
- Monitors annual capital budget and maintenance expenditures
- Ensures administrative requirements are completed in a timely manner
- Initiates mechanical cost saving programs when and where applicable
- Establishes and maintains vendor relationships to provide a support network for consistent safe and reliable equipment for company personnel as well as customers
- Appraises performance and addresses employee issues
- Determines staff requirements, recruits, trains, and develops personnel required to provide service to external and internal customers
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required.
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma
Preferred Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business management or related mechanical field, or equivalent number of years of experience in the fleet/equipment maintenance management field
Experience Requirements: Ten (10) years of experience including five (5) or more year’s related experience managing fleet/equipment maintenance management in multiple locations.
Knowledge/ Skills:
Advanced skills managing large fleets with multiple locations. Strong verbal and written skills. Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and various other computer-based programs. Physical Demands: Required to work in a standard office environment and operate a computer and may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Extended standing, walking, and climbing up, down and around various types of equipment during inspections.
Travel: Subject to long, irregular hours and 24-hour on-call availability. Must be able to travel 60% of the time. Driving for extended periods.
Working Conditions: Standard indoor office environment. Requires frequent travel to Division Headquarters and job sites, which includes exposure to potentially hazardous locations, or weather afflicted areas. Field environment may include field office trailers, hotels, exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, including wet and/or humid conditions, dust noise and other adverse job site conditions. Will be required to wear personal protective clothing applicable to situation.
