Pay Rate:  $45,000 - $52,000 per year.  


We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Elementary School Computer Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will inspire young learners with a passion for technology and guide them in developing essential computer skills. This role involves teaching computer literacy, fostering digital citizenship, and integrating technology into the broader curriculum to enhance student learning. This role will also provide technical support to students and staff, assist with maintaining IT infrastructure, and contribute to a smooth technological operation within the school. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in an educational environment and is passionate about technology.


Teaching Responsibilities: 

  • Instruction: Teach computer science and technology subjects to elementary students, including basic computer operations, internet safety, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and coding.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that align with state standards and the school's educational goals.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and fosters collaboration and creativity.
  • Assessment: Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and assessments. Provide feedback and support to help students achieve their learning objectives.
  • Technology Integration: Collaborate with other teachers to integrate technology into their curricula and support the use of educational software and tools.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest educational technology trends and best practices. Attend professional development workshops and training sessions as required.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues. Provide updates on student progress and participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Manage classroom technology resources, including computers, tablets, and other devices. Ensure that equipment is maintained and in good working order.
  • Digital Citizenship: Educate students about responsible and ethical use of technology, including internet safety, digital footprint, and online etiquette.


IT Support Responsibilities: 

  • Technical Support: Offer technical assistance to students, teachers, and staff for issues related to computers, printers, software applications, and other IT equipment. Resolve problems efficiently and provide clear instructions
  • Hardware and Software Management: Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, software applications, and peripherals. Ensure that all hardware and software are functioning correctly.
  • Classroom Technology: Support the use of technology in classrooms, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, and other teaching aids. Ensure that technology is set up and operational for classes and events.
  • User Assistance: Help manage user accounts, including setting up new accounts, resetting passwords, and troubleshooting access issues. Provide basic training to staff and students on technology use and best practices.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain records of IT equipment and software inventory. Track and manage IT assets, including computers, tablets, and other devices, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with licensing agreements
  • Network Support: Assist with basic network troubleshooting and support. Help ensure reliable and secure network connectivity for the school.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of technical issues, resolutions, and IT procedures. Update and manage documentation to facilitate effective support and knowledge sharing.
  • Project Support: Contribute to IT projects, such as software updates, equipment upgrades, and technology implementations. Assist with the planning and execution of technology-related initiatives.
  • Security and Compliance: Support the implementation of IT security policies and practices. Help monitor and address potential security issues and ensure adherence to school policies.
Requirements

Religious Qualifications:

  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred)
  • Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy

Professional Qualifications:

  • Possess a cleared California multiple subject teaching credential (preferred) 
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree 
  • Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for the Diocese of San Diego is a condition of employment) 
  • Experience teaching in an elementary school classroom 
  • Positive professional references and recommendations 
  • Experience teaching computer science or technology to elementary-aged students (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of computer software, hardware, and educational technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Previous experience in a technical support role, preferably in an educational environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with students, teachers, and staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements:

To successfully meet the needs of the students in his/her care, the teacher must:

  • Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom. While standing the teacher will frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstrating
  • Sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
  • Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks. Walk on both even and uneven surfaces
  • Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending
  • Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class
  • Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. It is occasionally necessary to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be inside the classroom. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops.
