Tool Room Attendant (Technician I)

Summary of Description:

The Technician will work under the supervision of an assigned specific discipline and based on experience the individual evaluates, selects, and applies standard applicable techniques. Could include discipline work of purchasing, expediting, NDT Inspection, project controls, surveying, laser scanning, schedulers, planner, construction inspectors, project coordinators, automation, controls, etc.


Duties:

  • Assists assigned supervisor in various aspects of projects assigned. 
  • Applying standard discipline techniques to make minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with additional specialized training, or college course work, and 0-5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


License Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement


Specific Skills:

  • Detailed working knowledge of Policies and Procedures related to project work.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year. 
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection. 
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
Requirements

 *Due to in plant position the below referenced Job Duties have been provided by the client: 


     

Major Responsibilities

• Store tools/consumables to assigned shelf/bin location

• Distribute tools/consumables to authorized personnel

• Utilize electronic system for issue and return of tooling

• Conduct inventory cycle counts (Quarterly 100% count)

• Communicate and correct any inventory deficiencies or discrepancies.

• Visually inspect tools for wear or defects before issuing and upon   return.

• Maintain tool functionality: including clean tool upon return,   coordinate inspection/calibration certifications and safe condition by   performing frequent inspections of tools and equipment for wear, defects or   damage

• Ensure that all required inspections and certifications are performed   in a timely and effective manner to meet all required dates.

• Perform minor repairs on tools as needed.

• Report damaged and worn out tools/equipment.

• Maintain test reports for all tooling

• Flexible hours to meet schedule

• Issue & Maintain barcoding on all tooling



Necessary Skills

• Some machining experience would be helpful but not necessary. 

• Ability to be self-directed, requiring little or no supervision.

• General computer experience is required including Outlook, MS Excel and   MS Word.

• Must understand and able to work with maintenance parts manual

• Must understand measurement of parts and materials in S.A.E. and metric   standards

• Must have good written and verbal communications skills

• Must comply with all safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe   work environment

• Be able to operate a forklift.

• Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors.

• Moderate to heavy physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily   activities of a primarily production environment.

Experience and/or Educational Requirements

• Training and experience in an industrial environment with familiarity   of tools

• Knowledge of tooling

• Excellent organizational skills

• Good interpersonal skills

• Excellent skills in SAP Preventive Maintenance

• Excellent skills in Excel
