PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

For over 50 years, CCLS has represented and advocated for low-income individuals in Merced, Tuolumne, Mariposa, Fresno, Tulare, and Kings Counties. With more than 90 employees, our mission is to provide high quality, no-cost civil legal services to low-income individuals, families, and communities—improving the wellbeing of our Valley through systems-changing advocacy, client education, and legal work that meets individual clients’ immediate needs. We also work closely with agencies and community organizations that share our commitment to support our clients in being their own agents of change. 


  

JOB DESCRIPTION

CCLS is hiring a Director Level individual who will serve as a strategic visionary for CCLS’ Special Projects. The Director of Special Projects will be responsible for planning, implementing, and executing a wide range of select projects that align with CCLS’ strategic goals and objectives. This leadership position requires exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving successful project outcomes and possess the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders.

DUTIES

The duties below pertain to select projects delegated by the Executive Director and/or as designated. 

  • In partnership with the Executive Director and the Executive Leadership Team, steward effective delivery against our multi-year organizational strategic plan.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, design and implementation of 3-year and 1-year planning processes, building on our 3-year strategic plan. Includes annual priorities, needs assessment, and LSC compliance.
  • Assist with managing major organizational initiatives and workstreams as required, which may include leading cross-functional teams to address emerging needs; designing and implementing new processes or systems. 
  • Ensure that project goals are met timely and within budget.
  • Monitor and track project progress, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Assist in management of project budgets, resources, and timelines; adjusting as necessary to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with CCLS cross-functional teams to define project scope, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Develop and implement project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Evaluate program/project performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree (required).
  • Minimum ten years of project management experience (required). 
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
  • Public interest or government experience either through employment at a non-profit legal services organization or through demonstrated commitment to pro bono endeavors while in private practice (preferred). 
  • Collaborative, team-oriented individual able to work with colleagues and external partners (required).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to train, inspire, and motivate teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present information to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools. LegalServer case management software experience preferred by not required. 
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive project decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.

Salary Description
$101,580 to $121,136.04 per year
