The Research & Development CAD Technician will be responsible for the creation of part files and drawings for new and existing products. They will collaborate with Product Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers on product development and improvement projects according to product requirements and specifications. They will make recommendations to continuously improve our CAD/PDM systems.
• Create Parts Files for existing Schluter Systems products where required
• Create Product Development Drawings for new products in cooperation with R&D Engineers
• Convert Product Development Drawings to Product Production Drawings in cooperation with R&D and Manufacturing Engineers
• Evaluate and modify Product Production Drawings supplied by vendors
• Convert Product Production Drawings to Customer Part Drawings in cooperation with R&D Engineers/Technical Services/Marketing
• Create Parts and/or Assembly Drawings for laboratory testing equipment, layouts, etc.
• Support R&D Engineers’ evaluation of product designs by creating prototypes using 3D Printer
• Support Manufacturing Engineers’ implementation of new products manufacturing, and maintenance or improvements of existing manufacturing operations as required
• Support Technical Services creation of Assembly Drawings as required
• Maintain strict organization of Schluter Systems CAD files per internal document control standards and policies
• Support other areas of the business with CAD work as required
• Represent Schluter Systems L.P. in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner in all matter
- Experience in CAD software, including SolidWorks
- 1-5 years of experience in drafting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to plan and execute a variety of tasks in a timely manner
- Thrive in a collaborative environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
