R&D Engineer
Description

The Research & Development Engineer will be responsible for the development of new products and improvement of existing products within cross-functional project teams. They will collaborate with teammates to develop and evaluate product requirements, specifications, designs, prototypes, and first parts. They will participate in research projects to evaluate new technologies for potential implementation in new and improved products. They will also support other areas of the business as required, such as Production, Quality Control, Technical Services, and others.


Fulfill Product Engineer Role in Product Engineering Projects

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to bring products to market
  • Develop and evaluate product requirements, specifications, and testing plans
  • Design product form and create product development drawings
  • Evaluate and approve prototypes and first parts
  • Support creation and execution of staff training

Plan and Execute Research Projects

  • Define the scope and goals of the project
  • Develop experimental programs and tests
  • Collaborate with in-house and outside laboratories to facilitate tests and documentation of results
  • Create and deliver reports to the R&D Team and the business


  • Travel within the United States, Canada, and Europe to attend various business meetings
  • Represent Schluter Systems L.P. in a professional, positive and enthusiastic manner in all matters
Requirements


  • Must thrive in a collaborative environment, capable of working within various teams to achieve common goals
  • Must be able to approach challenges independently, while still asking for guidance or help as required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; must be able to communicate technical topics and educate non-technical colleagues in a supportive manner
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan and execute a variety of tasks and deliver quality results in a timely fashion
  • Computer skills: 3D CAD (preferably Solidworks), Microsoft Office, etc.


Education Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering (M.S. preferred)
  • 2 to 5+ years of experience working as an engineer, preferably in product development or similar areas

COMPENSATION

$80,000 - 100,000/year, depending on experience

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions in this job grade, with the final offer depending on factors like experience, education, location, and other relevant considerations. Additionally, this role qualifies for extra benefits beyond the base pay range mentioned.
